Blockchain hardware distribution platform VARcrypt is set to launch a content distribution platform to encrypt, monetize, render, and globally distribute Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) content.

VARcrypt will also distribute film, television, music, print, gaming content, and software in one combined blockchain-enabled ecosystem.

VARcrypt content pricing is unorthodox as the content creators and artists will determine their own pricing.

VARcrypt's blockchain will be powered by its own proprietary cryptocurrency, VARcoin. VARcoin will become its own medium of exchange for goods and services within the VARcrypt blockchain universe and beyond.

The artists’ content will be available to sample, rent, or purchase with VARcoin.

It will function almost exactly like tokens from video game arcades, but instead of powering the nostalgic video arcade of the past VARcoin will power the future of the internet.

The VARcoin Crowd Presale will begin on tomorrow. The general crowd sale will commence in January and will continue until February 28, 2018.

An additional 21 million VARcoins will be made available for the VARcoin mining pool. Eleven million VARCOINS will be available for the pre-sale and general crowd sale with 10 million being held in trust.

VARcoin is based on Bitcoin technology as authored by Satoshi Nakamoto the unknown person or people who designed it. The VARcoin is poised to become a true utility token, a key component in the distribution of content globally.

With the benefits of blockchain encryption, global distribution, and monetization, VARcrypt will likely be at the epicenter of the future of media, which will likely not be exclusively VR or AR, but a combination of both – VAR or Mixed Reality.

This was seen as highly improbable a year ago according to VARcrypt’s Founder and CEO Ethan Gilmore.

Gilmore told the media that when he was promoting VARcrypt across America last year, he had difficulty convincing people that blockchains could effectively be used to distribute content, much less VR and AR content together.

But it is quickly becoming a reality.

Gilmore believes that the current net neutrality debate and problems content creators are having with YouTube and other platforms present great opportunities for VARcrypt to capitalize on.

VARcrypt’s main mission is to provide an elegant and simple hardware agnostic platform where blockchain technology can be combined with VR, AR and legacy content for the benefit of artists and content creators.

VARcrypt, as a company, does not want to be beholden to any one hardware provider and desires to remain completely independent.
