Freelancing is on the rise. Whether it's super inexpensive tasks on Amazon's MTurk, or higher level knowledge work that occurs on platforms like Upwork, the number of platforms emerging to connect freelancers with customers is increasing. While each approach is unique, there are certain issues with each that blockchain may be able to improve. The concept of crypto bounties has emerged to solve some of these issues. Users who put up bounties, in the form of a task request, stake their crypto up-front, removing the need for trust when it comes to a customer's ability to pay. Once the work is completed the bounty is rewarded to the freelancer who completes it.
In this interview, Simona Pop and I discuss why some freelancers prefer crypto bounties over incumbents, and what the future of the freelancing economy will look like on the blockchain. If you're a freelancer, if you've hired one, or if you're interested in the future of work, this is the episode for you! Also, Simona is one of my favorite humans in the blockchain world, she genuinely cares about the movement and knows her stuff. Definitely connect with her if you get the chance.
What you will learn in this episode:
- How crypto bounties can improve freelancing.
- How you can leverage crypto bounties to hire qualified freelancers.
