The following is an interview we recently had with Chrissa McFarlane, CEO of Patientory.

1. What’s the history of Patientory? How and where did you begin?

CM: I grew up in New York City with the desire to become a Surgeon. I attended business school and completed a semester of medical school but later became more intrigued by the business side. Instead of becoming a funnel just to treat patients, I had more interest in becoming a part of the solution and not the problem. I wanted to provide a solution to help impact their day-to-day routine and assist others in making healthy decisions.

A Cornell alum reached out, they’d just raised $6 million, and it was the first time that I worked with a digital healthcare start-up. My biggest challenge was gaining access to patient data. The idea for Patientory was a byproduct of this experience coupled with the intent to become an advocate for healthcare solutions.

2. Who are the founders and key team members?

Chrissa McFarlane, Founder and CEO

Named as one of the top women “leaving their mark on the medtech field”, Chrissa is passionate about creating cutting-edge transformational healthcare products. She brings over 10 years in the healthcare industry including experiences in research, EMR consulting, insurance and community outreach. Chrissa holds a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University and a Masters in Management from Wake Forest University School of Business with internationally published research to add to her credentials.

Garnie Morgan, COO

Garnie Morgan has 15 years of industry experience in merchant acquiring. Most recently, he served as Director of Operations at I3Verticals, Inc., where he focused primarily on executed the integration and operations of 5 companies and merged them into the main operations center in Georgia. Before joining I3Verticals, Garnie was the Operation Manager for US Data Capture, dealing in over 3 billion dollars of processing volume primarily working in Health and Education. He is excited to assist in transforming the healthcare industry and being at the forefront of a new healthcare era with the Patientory team.

Kelly McCloskey, VP Business Development

Kelly’s successful track record as a technology sales/account professional has provided her with a wide range of experience and knowledge base in selling software, hardware and enterprise communication solutions. With over 15 years of account management experience, Her recent interest in the healthcare industry led her to a leadership position at leading healthcare company. This experience provided Kelly with firsthand experience of the challenges healthcare organizations face surrounding patient health data exchange and regulatory compliance, which she hopes to help her clients resolve through the application of Blockchain technology. Kelly is a graduate from Georgia Institute of Technology and resides in Atlanta with her husband Kevin and daughter Abigail.

Quiana Lloyd, Director of Marketing and Communications

Quiana has nearly fifteen years of combined experience in both design and marketing initiatives. She successfully garnered six figures in complimentary product placement, advertising, and media coverage for a local start-up brand.

Quiana recently managed the marketing and communication strategy for a state wellness program. Before working in the health and wellness arena, she directed all phases of the digital content and marketing initiatives for the Georgia Lottery’s interactive portal and cloud-based Diggi Games product.

Through innovative and time-tested strategies, she’s developed campaigns to drive revenue by 20% – 30% in comparison to previous initiatives over the course of a one-year period.

3. What problem are you solving? Who are you solving it for?

CM: Patientory is empowering people to take charge of their own health. We’re revolutionizing the way doctors and patients interact and gain access to information, cutting out all layers and processes that currently are stumbling blocks in care coordination. We connect doctors, care providers, and consumers all within a single, secure platform – creating a care team that works together to provide the best care.

4. What is your solution to this problem?

CM: Patientory empowers patients, clinicians and healthcare organizations to safely access, store and transfer information, thus improving care coordination while ensuring data security.

Patientory interconnects with any EHR system and enables doctors, care providers and consumers to communicate on a single easy to use platform. We also connect consumers to connect with the larger community.

Patientory uses blockchain technology to ensure end-to-end encryption while adhering to regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements.


5. Why is your industry ripe for disruption?

CM: I have managed to form an organization that's on the cutting edge of healthcare, especially being the first company to complete a healthcare related token sale, we're blazing trails!

6. What’s the future of your industry?

CM: AI, blockchain, and IoT which will better serve the patient and create a more streamlined patient continuum.
