Created by Canaan Creative, a company founded in 2013 by N.G. Zhang, the Avalon 7 entered the market in November 2016, giving its close cousins, the Antminer Series, stiff competition. The new version of Canaan’s AvalonMiner Controller Software that’s compatible with this hardware gives you instant access to speed charts, hash rate, firmware version as well as all the current stats, giving you an easy platform to monitor your Bitcoin mining firm.

If you are looking to get into the Bitcoin mining industry, you need to know about the Avalon 7 and what it promises to offer. We are not going to waste any more time; let’s now get straight to its benefits and, of course, answers to some of the commonly asked questions about the hardware. Enjoy!

Top 5 Benefits of the Avalon 7

  • Reliable

Mining Bitcoins is no easy task. If you get hardware that’s not up for the job, you might as well flush your money down the drain! What we are trying to say is that reliability when it comes to a Bitcoin mining hardware is paramount, if you are going to succeed in this industry. Luckily, the Avalon 7 is a serious hardware that embodies the A3212 processor for utmost speed. It packs an incredible 72 chips that ensure it provides a consistent 6 Terahash/second (THS). Now, that’s what we call reliability!

  • Open Compatibility

From using a number of off-the-shelf power supplies to upgradable Open Source firmware, the Avalon 7 is surely designed to scale, allowing you to take full control of your datacenter.  The AMS (AvalonMiner Management Software) that runs it was developed by Canaan to help people enjoy flexible open operation without any hindrances whatsoever, and indeed that has been the case to date!

  • Quality Build

That’s right! The Avalon 7 can take a beating and still operate as intended. The hardware comes with a solid design, making it a great ASIC miner for most people. It features aluminum-printed circuit boards, a smart cooling, and an aluminum case for the best performance. Additionally, its Smart Frequency adjustment makes it a really SMART miner!

  • Low Power Consumption

For those who are worried about the electricity cost, relax because we know something that will make you smile. The Avalon 7 might come with great features and an impressive hash rate, but that doesn’t mean that it consumes a lot of power, no! According to the manufacturer (and of course verified user reviews), this mining hardware only consumes around 930Watts. And do you know what this means at the end of the day? More profits!

  • Can be Combined with More Avalon Miners

We are not kidding! If you connect the AvalonMiner controller, you can easily hook up the Avalon 7 with 4 other devices for utmost performance. If you get a total of 5 Avalon miners together, that translates to around 30 TH/s. We know – it’s pretty amazing, right?

Top 10 Questions about Avalon 7

  • What exactly is Avalon 7?

Created by Canaan Creative, the Avalon 7 (also known as Avalon 721) is a Bitcoin Mining hardware that allows Bitcoin enthusiasts to earn profits in the cryptocurrency world. It’s a favorite among many people because of its lower price tag and efficiency.

  • How do I set up the Avalon 7 and the AvalonMiner Controller?

Once you have the hardware itself, the AvalonMiner Controller and a power supply unit, connect the power to your controller, and then the controller to your computer. Ensure that your PC is configured properly to the network. Use your browser to access the Avalon Project page, where you will see a login screen. Of course, at first you don’t have a password to access, so just go ahead and click login to display the interface. From there you can access anything – from password setup page to the pool information to the network settings. It’s that simple!

  • Does the Avalon 7 require a specific power supply?

The simple answer to this question is NO! As long as the power supply is at least 1300 watts it will work just fine. If you have two PSUs, each with 650 Watts, you can use them on each side. Currently, Canaan does not sell PSUs because it assumes that it’s much easier for buyers to source in their home countries. Also, if one has been a miner and is looking to upgrade their hardware, chances are they already have a power supply.

  • What’s the Hashrate of this hardware?

Compared to its predecessor (the Avalon 6), which has a 3.5 TH/s, the Avalon 7 is a serious upgrade when it comes to the hash rate. It comes with a cool 6 TH/s hash rate, meaning that you get more mining power to make your Bitcoin mining a reality.

  • How much power does the Avalon 7 Consume?

We know you must be worried about your electricity costs – every Bitcoin miner is! Canaan must have put much thought into the design and performance of this hardware to make it more efficient and reliable to its consumers. To make this a reality, it ensured that the Avalon 7 doesn’t consume any more than 100 Watts. Actually, in average the power rating of the hardware is only 930 Watts, which means it will cut down your electricity cost. This ultimately translates to more savings and more profits!

  • Does it heat up easily?

Many companies have tried to come up with great Bitcoin miners with impressive features, but there’s one area most of them normally fail at – incorporating good cooling technology! Being an upgrade of the Avalon 6, this hardware comes with more chips, which normally means that the cooling setup of its predecessor would not cut it. Canaan came up with a better cooling design to ensure the boards and chips are in top performance. The hardware also comes with fans that maintain the temperatures between -5 degrees C to 40 degrees C.

  • Is it Profitable?

The profitability of any Bitcoin miner is subjective considering the volatility of cryptocurrencies. We do share these sentiments but to a much lower degree.  While we won’t get into financial explanations now, we can confidently tell you that cryptocurrencies are the “new gold” in these recent times.

But since we are talking about profitability, here’s something you should think about. The prices of Bitcoins fluctuates every day, but its overall direction is arguably up (it’s been like that for years). If the trend continues and you are able to save electricity cost, there’s no reason at all you shouldn’t make profits.

  • Can I connect it with other Avalon Miners?

Yes! As long as you have the AvalonMiner Controller, you can connect up to 5 Avalon Miners and enjoy a total of 30 TH/s.

  • What do I do is the hardware is faulty and doesn’t power up?

If your Avalon 7 fails to power up after it has been shipped to you, don’t panic; all is not lost yet! Canaan offers an impressive 2-year limited warranty to cover such cases. During the warranty period, the company will replace or repair any proven broken or defective part, free of charge. However, note that costs as a result of damage from abuse, misuse, improper installation or unauthorized alterations will be assumed by the buyer.

  • Who is Avalon 7 for?

After reading through our review you can clearly deduce that the Avalon 7 isn’t for everyone. While it can appeal to any Bitcoin enthusiast, it’s best suited for small home miners that want to earn some Bitcoins for smaller purchases. It’s not as expensive as other mining hardware out there, and that’s why it’s a favorite of many people who are on a budget.
